Bed Size Specifications
Everyone talks about double beds, single beds and kingsize beds, but people don't always agree on exactly what sizes these describe. Just so that you're sure you're ordering the right bed or mattress, here's a handy guide to exactly what those descriptions mean. Note that these are for the mattress size - the overall size of a bed may be larger than this dependent on your base, frame, headboard etc.
Small Single |
2' 6" x 6' 3" |
Useful for tight spaces, this mattress is a full-length single but a bit narrower. |
Single |
3' 0" x 6' 3" |
This mattress is a 'standard' single - the most common size for a single bed. |
Small Double |
4' 0" x 6' 3" |
Again, people find this mattress useful when space is at a premium but they need a double bed. |
Double |
4' 6" x 6' 3" |
A standard double. |
Kingsize |
5' 0" x 6' 6" |
This is the first size that provides extra length as well as being a little wider, so consider a Kingsize if the space is available. |
Super King |
6' 0" x 6' 6" |
The ultimate for those with the space; a full foot wider than Kingsize and still providing a longer mattress. |
